On the evening of June 1st, RFPD unanimously welcomed a new board member to the family.  We are delighted to announce that  Dr. Ahmes Gabriel has agreed to serve our membership on the RFPD Board of Directors. 

Dr. Ahmes was born in Alexandra, Egypt.  He attended the English Mission College in Cairo, where he studied under British teachers.  He obtained his general certificate of education from Oxford and then went on to study medicine at Cairo University.  Upon graduation he specialized in Clinical Pathology and obtained both his Master and Doctors degrees in Infertility.  Following he continued his research along side Swedish professors. 

Dr. Gabriel joined the Air Forces Medical Corp in Egypt as a Lieutenant, where he practiced until he retired with the rank of General.  Dr. Gabriel is still currently practicing in his private medical laboratory that he started in Heliopolis, Egypt in 1974. 

Ahems joined the Rotary Club of Heliopolis, Cairo Egypt in 1989 in District 2450 where he served on most committees at the time and eventually served as Club President as well. He served as District 2450 Secretary, which includes ten countries, then  Area Governor, Area Coordinator, and finally Governor Representative for two years.  Dr. Gabriel was sent to Thailand by Rotary International to train on CLE techniques regarding literacy in 1997 and came back to Egypt where we applied it in classes for adult education. He went onto serve as Chairman of the Literacy Committee in D-2450.

Ahmes joined RFPD as a lifetime member when it was founded in 1996 and served as Country Chair for Egypt from 2008-2009. He also faithfully served as a member of ROTA North Africa 2009-2014, Assistant National Polio Plus Committee Chair from 2011-2015.  Dr. Gabriel has attended all district conferences since he became a Rotarian and has attended 23 Rotary International Conventions including Sydney where he was unanimously elected to the Board of Directors of RFPD.
