New leadership at RFPD
Harald Marschner
The Rotarian Action Group for Population Growth & Sustainable Development (RFPD), the oldest and largest RAG (Rotarian Action Group) - elected new officers and directors during the RI Convention in Birmingham. PDG Harald Marschner from Austria was named as chairman, with PDG Rekha Shetty from India as Vice-Chairman & Area Coordinator (India/Asia). These two committed Rotarians follow after the three-year leadership of Salem Mashhour and Robert Zinser. We thank Salem for his tireless efforts and continued drive for projects and new members. Robert Zinser, a co-founder of RFPD, was elected Chief Executive Officer, a new position, and Area Coordinator (Europe). Other board members include: Treasurer & Area Coordinator for North Africa, Salem Mashhour (Egypt); Public Relations Director & Area Coordinator for Sub-Sahara Africa, Dolapo Lufadeju (Nigeria); Area Coordinator for N. Harald Marschner has been a Rotarian since 1984 in D1920, a member of RFPD Austria since 2003 and Vice-Chair of the Austrian Section since 2006. Harald was Club President (1999/00), Assistant Governor (2002/05), District Governor (2005/06), Chair of District Community Service Committee since 2006, Chair of Intercountry Committee Austria-Czech Republic-Slovak Republic since 2006. He was born in Gross Schoenau, Czech Republic and has been living in Austria since 1948. Rtn. Marschner studied economics at university in Vienna and was the General Manager at his family-owned company in Perg, Upper Austria from 1970 to 2003.
He was the chairman of the Austrian union of insulating systems producing industry from 1995 to 2003. Harald is married to Annemarie and has two children and three grandchildren. RFPD extends a warm welcome to our new Chair, Rtn. Marschner.
